Rooftop Penthouse is a project spanning over 200 square meters in the province of Varese, designed by èLUNAPIENA.
The rooftop extends lengthwise and is divided into three areas, each with its own distinct style, connected by a system of custom-made aluminum planters in a variety of shapes: cylindrical to add verticality to a predominantly horizontal space, trapezoidal and triangular to create green nooks that divide the areas and fit seamlessly into the terrace’s geometry.
The alcove area features soft, low, and enveloping “beach house” seating by Nodo Italia, arranged around a custom-made round èLUNAPIENA coffee table with an integrated bioethanol fireplace. An intimate and cozy corner, reminding us that the pleasure of the outdoors requires simple elements.
In the center of the terrace is the dining area with the round Vondom table and anthracite rope chairs. Rounding out the area is a custom-made aluminum kitchen by èLUNAPIENA.
The relaxation area features a large corner sofa by Nodo Italia in a contemporary style—paired with the armchairs in the alcove—and three chaise longues sheltered by greenery arranged in curved, sinuous planters.
The central theme of the Rooftop Penthouse project is not a color or a material, but a philosophy: every element has been designed to create enclosures, shelters, and nests. The custom-made planters by èLUNAPIENA, made of aluminum with an integrated irrigation system, are compositional elements first and foremost, rather than simply containers for greenery.
Every terrace has its weak points, and that of Rooftop Penthouse is the utility area with exposed systems, which cannot be removed. To solve the problem, èLUNAPIENA designed and installed a custom-made aluminum trellis with a fine mesh. In spring and summer, the wall disappears beneath a cascade of fragrant white flowers, transforming a problematic spot into a vibrant and harmonious corner.
Rooftop Penthouse was not conceived with the idea of simply furnishing a space, but rather of living in it. Every design choice follows a precise logic: to create places for rest, shelter, and true well-being.
